Isaac

Hey Guys,

Great meeting tonight. I still believe we are on the right track with studying the lives of some of the men in the Bible. Certainly God has used the men and the events in their lives to serve as markers for us to follow. Obviously the main example is Jesus and the call the be Holy as He is Holy is far beyond "our" capability, but nothing is impossible with God. We will never reach this perfection until we meet Jesus face to face in Heaven. However, we are charged by the word of God to strive for this perfection.

It is good and encouraging to know that our acceptance by God does not depend on our perfection. Isaac is another example of this promise. God blessed Isaac in ways I can not imagine. Still, the thing that stuck for me was the altar that Isaac built in the place where he met with God. We will do well to follow Isaac's example. If you recall, he also pitched his tent in that place. He stayed where he met God. Let us not be quick to have a passing experience with God and rush off to the next event. I think it wise to dwell with God where He is.

Lord God, please let this be so.

In Jesus,

Joey

PS Let us move on to Jacob for next week.

As for Gideon's troops. .9375% is the percentage used of the original 32000. In our church if we have a membership of 2000 that equates out to roughly two people. Now imagine what God could do with our group of 5? I'm for letting this begin with us. I'm going to start praying that God use us in a mighty way. I'm sure all he is waiting for us our willingness.

One more thing I found before we leave Isaac...

Abraham is like God our Father.
Isaac is like Jesus the Son.
Abraham's servant is like the Holy Spirit, Who has all the gifts of the Father with Him, which He uses to woo a bride for the Son.

I thought that a pretty good analogy when I came across it.
